Meet our very own Marius Hopley, the District Governor of Rotary District 1090 in the Thames Valley.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about Rotary, how we give back to the community and how you can join our team today.
The event will be held over a Zoom meeting on Saturday Jan 16 at 2pm. To Register in advance for this meeting please click on the link below:
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Happy New year to you! Hope you enjoyed a restful break, no doubt a much quieter one than usual. We returned to work on Monday and reflected on the incredibly busy few days leading up to Christmas. Judging by the figures below, it's not surprising we found it busy...
Wants and Needs
We will be concentrating on 3 key needs next week:
UHT milk, tinned meat pies, tinned fruit
However for the purpose of your street collection boxes, please see below a more generic list. You can click here for a word version. Bottles of olive oil are incredibly useful for recipe bags too - smaller 500ml bottles are preferable.
Lots of Recipes!
The Marlow Masonic Centre have also been incredibly supportive and managed to turn nearly £3000 worth of donations into about £6000 worth of food. Amazing!
It's unfortunately not possible to thank everyone on here so we at least try and acknowledge everyone's kindness and generosity on Facebook. We do our best to not miss anyone because we genuinely value everyone's contribution no matter how small. When you only have a tin of food in the house to eat, another one makes a huge difference.
On the Hunt for a Van
All are welcome to attend and the event will include a talk by Brian Jonson of Marlow Rotary Club, an ambassador club for End Plastic Soup project.
The End Plastic Soup campaign started in 2018 in the Rotary Clubs of Amsterdam and has spread to Rotary Clubs in other countries, including the UK. In 2021 End Plastic Soup will become a Rotary Action Group making it truly International!
Brian’s talk starts with the massive pollution of the River Thames with plastic waste and micro-plastics, then looks at the global issue and considers how we can all act to END PLASTIC SOUP! Fitting in very well with the local community basis of Marlow Bridge Rotary Club, this will be our 4th project supporting the local environment.
We shall also be giving updates on all the various projects that Marlow Bridge Rotary Club runs and how you can join in to help...

As a big thank you from all Rotarians in Marlow for all that you have done to help us, the Rotary Club of Marlow Thames has arranged to give you the opportunity to celebrate Christmas after an incredibly challenging year. All free of charge!
The ingenious plan devised by Tom Kerridge and the Pub in the Park team, with support from Marlow Town Council means that Marlow may be the only town in Britain where the majority of the community will still have the opportunity to meet up for Christmas 🎄 🎄 🎄
This week-long community led festival will host a variety of events from 16th-22nd December, with the support of several local organisations, including our very own trip to see The Muppets Christmas Carol on Sunday 20 December – gates open at 10.30 for a 11.00 am start.
To obtain a pass for your car and its occupants, send an email providing your registration number, (plus driver's name and mobile number - this for Covid Track & Trace) to:
There is a limit of 100 cars! Passes will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The festival is also being supported by Marlow Rugby Club, My Marlow and Marlow FM 🎅
